Garshana is a traditional Ayurvedic dry massage that refreshes and stimulates the skin and lymphatic system, improving blood circulation and freeing the body of accumulated toxins. Dry massage of garshan is the most popular method of detoxification in Ayurveda – the ancient Indian medical tradition, which sometimes even equals full-value treatment. The therapeutic effects of garshan massage are well documented, and this method of treatment is also pleasant and it can be performed even at home.
Deep stimulating dry massage of the gharshan is traditionally performed in rough silk gloves (ideally made from silk) using natural herbal powder, which must be made from organic raw materials.
The basic principle of garshan is similar to other massage methods – it is based on the effect of old-fashioned lymphatic drainage (for example, on classical hemolymphatic drainage massage). Dry massage garshan similarly improves the flow of lymph and thus helps with fluid retention in the body.
